Scholar's Tower by juliedillon Scholar's Tower by juliedillon
This was an assignment for my perspective class, utilizing an isometric perspective grid. I had always sucked so much at perspective (still do, but not quite so badly ^^) so I was happy I was able to make this not look like a complete mess. :) This was done with micron pens and prismacolor markers.

Wow, this reminded me a lot of this scene in the Whispered World game: www.mobygames.com/images/shots…
I loved it's mood. Maybe you will try a colored remake of your drawing someday I think it would look killer with your painting skills. :D

Good god. You should probably stop doing art because you're making me feel bad about myself.

Kidding, but seriously, the level of detail is amazing, and I really enjoy the multitude of fine points that tie the whole room together. ie the man's robe where it touches the floor and the books tumbling down the steps.

Keep it up!

LOL wow... funny coincidence.

hey jdillon82.
Congrats man, I'm in Perspective class now, and your line drawing is used as the Homework 1 example :).
I know it's probably hard to calculate, but have any number you could throw at me as to how many hours the Line drawing took for you to make?

Ha, really? That's awesome. XD It's been a while since I made it, but while I worked hard on it, I don't think it took an overly ridiculous amount of time. I know I got it done in time for the deadlines without any major problem. Maybe... 5-7 hours for the line drawing? If you look closely you can see the linework isn't especially precise or nuanced.

I've had this image in my 'to be sketched' pile for quite a while. I finally got around to sketching it last week while at a camp with the kids. Thanks for the inspiration. I really enjoyed sketching all the nuances of this image. My sketch can be found here:

You have an incredibly fantastic understanding of how to express the world around you through the visual medium. I'm curious what experience brought about this understanding, have you received any extensive formal training?

By the way, I like the use of what think are constellations upon the orb, its a nice touch that adds to the overall beauty of the work.

Just the IMAGINATION to add in all of the little details, like the cogs and the cats and the mobile. I'd never be able to think up a scene like this! It's gorgeous.

lol i'm taking perspective - you know this is one of the 'example' pictures now - you know, the one's that we are supposed to try and get our pictures to have the same quality? haha yeah right. Mine didn't come out quite the same....you can see it in my gallery if you feel like it. Anyway awesome picture, hope you got an A :)
