Capricorn - Llewellyn Worldwide by juliedillon Capricorn - Llewellyn Worldwide by juliedillon
I got permission to post the interior illustrations for the 2014 Astrology Calendar for Llewellyn Worldwide! Iím going to post one sign per day until we get through them all. :) The Llewellyn calendar starts with Capricorn, so thatís where I will start as well.

Capricorn: December 22 to January 20. A Cardinal Earth sign. Hardworking, responsible, down-to-earth, stubborn. Dominant colors: grey, navy blue, indigo, brown/black. They are associated with stonework and high up, cold places (among other things), so I chose to portray the sign as an architect working on a castle/fortress high in the snowy mountains.

You can preorder the calendar if you like, or just check out the rest of Llewellyn Worldwide's offerings at www.llewellyn.com.

Fantastic, beautiful piece! :D (And the whole series, as well! :D)

And, man, this interpretation is freaky accurate about me. I happen to know someone who works as a professional astrologer; I'll send this to him and our mutual friends, and I guarantee you they'll laugh! ;)

I don't believe in astrology, but I bought this calendar for the lovely, fantastic art.

nice...the only thing i am not satisfied with is the horns....capricorns have long horns like that goes up and curls at the very end...otherwise it is exquisiting

Luckily there are different ways to interpret and depict things :)

By researching and brainstorming? There are a lot of different interpretations of the zodiac signs, there isn't one True Depiction saying that capricorns can only have one very specific type of horns. Same goes for any fictional/mythological type thing. And technically, he should be a fish-goat, not a man, if you want to be completely accurate.

Hm, I like this one! His expression and the cool (as in cold) background is very nice. I think a good portrayal of Capricorn.
