This was inspired in part by an awesome scifi comic my friend has been working on (although this ended up having little to do with her story, which I feel a little guilty about, haha), and in part by a conversation I had at a recent scifi/fantasy convention about working with more abstracted elements, bold colors, and iconic imagery; I felt like it gave me permission to do more of the type of art I like doing best.

The primary magic of the Lightbringer world is called Chromaturgy, with its practitioners known as "Drafters." Through sheer force of will they can cause the colors of the spectrum to gain physical form as a powerful substance called Luxin. And, just have a look at the description of Yellow Luxin (from Wikipedia):
Yellow Luxin is most often a liquid that releases its energy back into light quickly, allowing its use as a torch or a trigger to ignite flammable materials or explosives. Yellow nourishes other luxins, extending the durability of luxin structures or tools [or weapons]. Like water turning to ice, when yellow is drafted perfectly, it loses its liquidity and becomes the hardest [and deadliest] luxin of all.
Thanks for sharing this beautiful picture... as far as I'm concerned, it's "perfectly drafted Yellow"
PS-Will be watching in case you read the books and DO paint some fan art, because that just might manage to be even more epic
